In all seriousness, in future, I'd love for you to talk more about being both an author and a reviewer. I'd love to hear etiquette for reviewers and lines an author shouldn't cross and what you were referring to about Google alerts. Obviously, I'm against author-bashing or hating on creative people about their book-babies, but I personally appreciate an honest review and I definitely want to know the nitty-gritty which will make me sorry I ever picked that title up—ideally BEFORE I start reading!(Idiosyncratic language in a historical, anyone?) 'Hope you can make room in your newsletter sometime. Thanks!
Oh that’s a good topic! I do have rules—bc I feel the same way about wanting to know what’s in there! And sometimes what turns someone else off is what I like (my bff Sarina Bowen’s fave 1 star reviews: too much sex!). I’ll do it soon!
Your hate-review has only left me more intrigued, and this book has rocketed to the top of my to-read list.
I have finished only one book this week, an upcoming release about an astronomer dating the President called According to my Science. Obviously I am broken. (Part of the problem is the very good but very slow I Leave It Up To You, about a man emerging from a coma to work in his family’s sushi restaurant.)
I am hate-watching With Love, Meghan, which is bizarre, since I've always been Team Meghan and now I am not. I'm only two episodes in. If you hate watch, do you always finish? How long can we stay in this headspace?
I’m in my 50s so I’ll never figure that riddle out! :)
Love god of the woods. Finally got back up to pace reading 2-3 books a week. Had a spell of just being too down/distracted/otherwise numb where I couldn’t even get into a book. Thx for the good stuff recs.
Gobbled God of the Woods, rapidly consumed The Frozen River, devoured The Principles of Uncertainly (Maira Kalman SO GOOD), and have just digested The Labors of Hercules (a middle grade by the terrific Gary D. Schmidt) YUM :)

Some times you just have to read the (plot not necessarily writing) train wreck.

I don’t think I can hate watch more than 2 episodes but apparently I can at least skim the end…and you can be team Meghan and not Team Ever !
You BUY all your books? Do you not know about public libraries?
Well I like to support authors. And I do get library books but not lately. And I get gifted a lot of books!

Let’s just say it will happen again in your 60’s…. I really go in and out. I read 4 magazines today on a plane, which is … not scrolling anyway.

I’m onto God of the Woods. I like the book but I prefer to have a character to attach to, I guess, and I’m not feeling there yet. But I’m into it.
Mmm…yes, I hear this. I’m most curious about what you will think of Alice. I remain frustrated!
