Love the idea of Persephone Books. So fun. I hope you'll like The God of the Woods; I did, but not as much as Long Bright River, which was [chef's kiss].
I just finished Marchioness, thanks to you, which I never knew existed even though I read The Little Princess a billion times (and which my daughter did not like, sob sob…) thank you!! Also I’m in Boston - did you mean Beacon Hill Books on actual Beacon Hill? If so I am heading there ASAP. God, did I ever need this book today when the world seems more on fire than usual.
I recently read Nothing Serious, by Emily J. Smith which is funny and dark and smart and you would probably like it in a "oh my gosh the world is a terrible place and I can't look away" sense. Also I just devoured Back After This by Linda Holmes, which isn't even out yet but has the exact right proportions of romance and women's fiction and is so sweet and good and I want everyone to read it and believe in themselves and fall in love with Marty from Gilmore Girls (that's the male lead, in my head) and his big dog.
I can’t wait for the new Linda Holmes, although sometimes I have serious Linda Holmes envy bc her books get taken seriously by the “literary establishment” and mine do not and I don’t think they are much different and welcome to my brain sorry. I’m going to look for Nothing Serious, thanks!

It’s really great. I look at the shelf of them and I think I could read them all. Ok, The God of the Woods is definitely next!

Your description of “The Making Of A Marchioness” has me running to read it, posthaste!

I agree with this.
