I love a colorful plaid!

Love this so much! I have a “blazer” too! The captain’s blazer from Quince. I bring it everywhere! And it’s always the thing that makes me have to sit on my suitcase at the end of the trip, but I can’t quit it.

I think maybe I wear it on every flight from now on…

KJ, YES! It has to be the RIGHT blazer. You know when you put it on. And then you have to commit and wear the hell out of it. This is cost-per-wear thinking in action. The best piece is not the one sitting pristine in your closet, it is the one you wore 7 times in 8 days. The one you wadded up in tote bags and threw over everything. The one that works. People forget this exists as a mindset, but sustainable wardrobe building is not about having beautiful things, it is about having functional things you actually wear ♥️♥️♥️

I am so proud of myself… and my blazer! My biggest shift in shopping less and better this year has been to constantly think “ but if I buy this what will I wear leas because of it” and if it’s something I want to wear more of… I don’t buy it. And I am learning not to “save” things which is a real challenge…

KJ, YES! That is cost-per-wear thinking in reverse and it works. And not "saving" things is the hardest mindset shift. We are taught to preserve beautiful things instead of using them. But the blazer you wore 7 times in 8 days is doing its job. The one sitting pristine in your closet is not (and that doesn't include the compounding magic the clothes carry the more amazing memories and feelings we attach to pieces by actually wearing them). Wear the hell out of the things you love. That is what they are for ♥️

So great!

I love blazers, and you are reminding me I am overdue to update mine as some of my favorites don't fit well anymore.

Your NYT headshot reminds me of WNBA coach Becky Hammon's courtside "uniform" of hoodie under a blazer. She must have dozens of these.

I still have that hoodie—actually and the blazer and I think the tshirt. One of my daughters wore the blazer on college tours, and I am just waiting to feel like I want to wear it again. The hoodie is Barney’s coop (RIP) and therefore can never leave my closet.

I love me a good blazer but I'd been without one for a long time. We were in Amsterdam recently and I found one that is now my staple--an upcycled men's blazer with boxy shoulders and everything. Such a find and I look for opportunities to wear it everywhere ✨

Oh that sounds so fun! If I hadn’t lucked into this one (I threw it into a TRR cart with a

bag I’d been hunting for years, figuring I might as well make the most of the shipping and try some things that were not final sale), I would have stuck to trying things in real, honest to gosh stores which is way more fun!

True! Though I wish I’d kept a couple of my old Gap blazers from the 90s!
