If you're low and in need of fun...
And maybe The Thursday Murder Club on Netflix was not all you'd hoped
I have a BOOK for you!! Last time we chatted, this was in my latest book haul pic:
And I said (while singing the praises of I’ll Eat When I’m Dead): which should I start with?
The vote was clear: How to Age Disgracefully. And…. I maybe started Gwyneth first. But that one’s not going to keep me up at night or distract me from my scrolling (which tends toward the fashion and news cycle, so it actually just encourages me). No, I needed something to read. Like, really read.
And How to Age Disgracefully was perfect. No murders or ex spies (I won’t ruin anything by telling you what our rogue heroine is actually fleeing from) but the same I’m all out of fucks vibe with a more heartwarming story. Think Fredrik Backman, but with more shenanigans.
That’s all I have for you kids this week! This picture truly represents the day I had… summer came in for a rough landing around here. (I mean, I know, it’s a beautiful day and a pretty pool and I’m loving all that but this just felt like… my vibe.)
So if you have ANOTHER book that vibes like this (it doesn’t have to be older people, and not Kills Well With Others, those just don’t fly for me for some inexplicable reason) I will take it! Meanwhile here’s my library haul today:
Which of THESE should I start with?
Definitely read The Road to Tender Hearts over Swan Song! It is funny and sad and actually has some similarities with Pooley (while being. Completely different).
Oh thank you!! I like Strout and Waxman and I don’t think I’ve tried Confino so that’s a gift!
